Summer Beauty Made Simple

Ashley_BeautySavings6

As a mother to four little ones, my budget for beauty products has been drastically cut. What used to be spent on expensive makeup is now spent on diapers and formula. I’ve been pleasantly surprised to find that drug store name brand makeup works just as well if not better than department store makeup! The last time I was in Family Dollar, I was shocked to see that they carried name brand makeup.

I thought I’d share a few of my favorites!

CoverGirl Clean Normal Skin Foundation

I have used this foundation for the past three years.  It is the perfect amount of coverage without being cakey or thick. It goes on smooth and provides fabulous all day coverage!

CoverGirl Professional Super Thick Lash Mascara (in Black) –

I am a huge critic of mascaras.  They can’t be too thick and they can’t be too thin, this one is perfection.  I use one swipe along my bottom lashes for a feathery look. Then three coats along my upper lashes for a thicker and more enhanced look.  I’m a huge fan of this product!

CoverGirl Brow and Eye Makers (in Brown) –

I’m sure this would be fabulous for your eyebrows, but I like to just use it as eyeliner instead.  I line the bottom of my eyes with a quick swipe.  It’s the perfect shade of chocolate brown and lasts all day! That’s my makeup routine!

I’ll occasionally add a little blush or a swipe of lipgloss. But, I prefer to keep it relatively simple…especially in the summer time!

Now let’s talk nails.  I love it when my finger and toe nails are painted.  It makes me feel put together – until my nails chip!  Then I feel very unkempt.  But, I’m constantly washing my hands throughout the day taking care of my little ones. With all the diaper changing and washing of hands that go on at our house, my nail polish lasts no longer than a day or two.

That’s where this little red jar of magic comes in!

Sally Hansen Insta-Dry

This is an anti-chip top coat. I first paint my nails with this Sally Hansen white shade. I love having white nails in the summer time.  It adds a fun pop of color against tan hands!

Once I had apply my white polish I applied the Insta-Dry and, I kid you not, they were dry within a few seconds. This is huge for me – I have zero patience and usually scuff my wet polish almost immediately!  With these nail polishes, I can paint my nails on a Sunday and they stay chip-free all the way through Saturday.  It was a modern day miracle!
