S’more Please…Making the Perfect Summertime Treat

Angie_Smores1

I don’t know if I could ever get tired of s’mores. I’ve been eating them my entire life – from girl scouts to camping trips and back yard parties – we’ve been making them forever it seems.

While I will always hold a special place in my heart for the traditional s’more with layers of graham cracker, chocolate and marshmallow, I still love to add my own personal touch to them once in a while. So I’ve got a few s’mores ideas for you and your next campfire get-together.

First, let me show you the traditional s’more. You’d think that everyone knows about the s’more. You’d think that everyone in the world has had one. But, if you think that you’re wrong. It’s crazy to think about the number of people who haven’t had one! I’ve met three people just this year that had never had them.

So since there are some people out there who haven’t had them yet, let’s go over the traditional s’more.

What you need:
Graham Crackers
Marshmallows
Chocolate Bars
Skewers

What to do:

1. Place graham cracker squares on a flat surface. Place a chocolate square on one of the graham crackers.

2. Roast/Heat 1 or 2 marshmallows, either over a campfire or under a broiler. (Please be careful and do not burn yourself!)

3. Once they are hot, place the marshmallows on top of the chocolate square, press another graham cracker square over the marshmallow, and press down.

4. Remove the skewer and enjoy!

Now for a little twist, set up a s’more bar at your next campfire and experiment with lots of different flavors of s’mores! There are some pretty amazing combinations out there!

For our s’more bar, we set up an arrangement of cookies, mini candy bars and regular marshmallows.

We had a blast coming up with different flavor options! Follow the same directions for the traditional s’more, but don’t use Graham crackers or regular chocolate bars!

We used Caramel Shortbread Cookies, Reese Chocolate Chip Cookies and Chocolate Stripe Cookies.

We also replaced the chocolate bars with cookies and crème chocolate bars, Reese Peanut buttercups, peppermint patties, 3 musketeers, and milky ways.

What to do:

1. Place cookies with the flat side up on a flat surface. Place a mini candy bar on the flat part of the cookie.

2. Roast/Heat 1 or 2 marshmallows, either over a campfire or under a broiler. (Again, please be careful and do not burn yourself!)

3. Once they are hot, place the marshmallows on top of the candy bar, press another cookie over the marshmallow, and press down.
