The Big Basketball Tournament is almost here and that means a lot of basketball! Lots of games to watch and lots of get togethers to plan! This also means that snacks and meal ideas need to be planned as well. While most everyone loves watching a good basketball game at home, most of the time they love all the snacks during the game, too. Most are happy with chips and other small snacks, but sometimes it’s nice to have something a little heartier. Especially if there are kids around that may need a little more for dinner than a handful of pretzels. These Cheeseburger Basketball cups are perfect for both kids and the kid at heart.
Cheeseburger Basketball Cups
What you need:
1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
2 small cans tomato sauce
1 muffin pan
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese
1-2 cans refrigerated biscuit dough
Salt and pepper to taste
What to do:
Step 1: Pre-heat oven to 350F.
Step 2: Put brown ground beef in a large skillet. Drain grease and return beef to skillet.
Step 3: Add in 2 cans of tomato sauce.
Step 4: Add onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder and paprika. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Step 5: Stir and cook for 5 minutes. Add in cheese and stir until melted.
Step 6: Open biscuit dough and press one biscuit into each muffin cup.
Step 7: Fill each biscuit cup with cheeseburger mixture. Bake cups in the oven for 12 minutes or until biscuits are done.
Step 8: Remove from oven.
Step 9: To make the basketball topper, use a can or round cookie cutter to cut circles from cheese slices.
Step 10: Carefully use a sharp knife and cut beef jerky into strips.
Step 11: Top cheeseburger cups with a cheese circle.
Step 12: Place strips of beef jerky onto cheese to resemble a basketball. To get the beef jerky to curl some, place beef jerky slices under the oven broiler for 20-30 seconds. This will make them curl.
Step 13: Place the cheese basketballs onto the cheeseburger cups while they are hot, so that the cheese melts onto the cups.
