Be my Valentine! – sweet recipes that will melt your heart


Chocolate Bar Topped Brownies

I probably started thinking of Valentine’s Day ideas in early January. All of the stores start putting out the chocolates and fresh flowers and my mind starts going crazy with Valentine’s Day recipe ideas! But in case you’re like me and you do wait until the last minute to make things, I’ve got one of my favorite Valentine’s Day recipes to share with you! My husband loves these brownies and insists that they always be served with vanilla ice cream!


This Chocolate Bar Topped Brownie will take you no time to make but it’s so pretty when it’s done that your loved one will think you spent hours slaving away over this decadent dessert.


Also don’t forget flowers! Dessert and fresh flowers are a perfect match for Valentine’s Day! I ran out and picked these up from a store close to my house after making this chocolate dessert and just had to share them with you!

(This recipe makes two mini loaf pans of thick brownies)


What you need:
1 packet of fudge brownie mix
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons of water
1 egg
Valentines M&MS
4 regular sized chocolate candy bars
2 mini loaf pans
Vanilla Ice Cream







What to do

Step 1: Pre-heat the oven to 350F.

Step 2: In the bowl of a mixer, combine the brownie mix and the oil.


Step 3: Mix well.

Step 4: Add in the water and egg.


Step 5: Mix well.

Step 6: Open and break apart one of the candy bars.

Step 7: Lay the pieces in the bottom of the first mini loaf pan. Pour some of the batter on top of the candy bar.

Angie-vday9 Step 8: Sprinkle some M&Ms over the batter.

Angie-vday10 Step 9: Fill the mini loaf pan with more brownie batter.

Step 10: Leave about ½ of an inch or so between the batter and the rim of the mini loaf pan. The Brownie will need space to rise.


Do the same with the second mini load pan.

Step 11: Bake them in a preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until brownie is cooked throughout.

Step 12: Carefully remove the brownies from the oven.

Step 13: Place 1 candy bar on top of each brownie.

Step 14: Return the brownie to the oven. Turn the broiler on and heat for about 1 minute; this will soften the chocolate bar.


Step 15: Remove from the oven and let cool.

Step 16: Top with M&MS and eat straight from the mini loaf pan or transfer brownie to a plate, top with M&Ms and serve with vanilla ice cream.
