Home Organization for 2013

One of my New Years resolutions this year was to de-clutter and organize our home. The fact that we’re expecting a new baby at the beginning of February has helped to fuel that resolution!

There were several areas of my home that I wanted to get under control. – the bathroom towels, kid’s craft supplies and the kid’s shoes. I headed to Family Dollar where I found everything I needed to get organized!

My first project was to figure out a solution for our bath towels. We have a small towel rack in our bathroom that isn’t big enough to hang all five (soon to be six!) towels. I was tired of having a pile of wet towels that never dried. I was able to find an over the towel rack at Family Dollar that had six hooks on it! A super easy fix!

My next project was to get my kid’s craft supplies under control. I was tired of finding crayons and colored pencils strewn all over the house. The cardboard boxes that held them were tattered and not doing their job. I purchased two little Sterilite drawers to keep their craft supplies in. Crayons, scissors, colored pencils, glitter, glue… you name it and there is plenty of room for it! Now everything is kept in one spot and makes for easy cleanup!

My last project was to tackle my kid’s shoes. Having three little children under the age of five in our home means we have a lot of shoes – play shoes, church shoes, dress up shoes, dance shoes, boots and slippers. Finding shoes that matched was a never-ending chore. I would take time to organize the shoes at the bottom of the kids’ closet only to find them mixed around again the next time I opened the closet. I was super excited to find an over the door shoe hanger at Family Dollar! It is HUGE and holds up to twenty pairs of shoes. It has been a life-saver!

Head over to Family Dollar and get yourself organized for the New Year! Happy organizing and de-cluttering!
